Alcalá Lab at William & Mary

I’m a junior majoring in Chemistry at William & Mary. I’m interested in how microbial eukaryotes, especially foraminifera, have evolved and how their genes relate to the traits we observe. In the Maurer-Alcalá Lab, I’m exploring these questions through microscopy and genomic and transcriptomic data analysis. I also work on identifying contamination in transcriptomic datasets to support reliable downstream analyses.
